Weekly Update, 8.17.2020

I haven’t done a weekly update in a while so I thought I was due for one this week. Just a collection of random things I’ve been doing, eating, loving etc… This Butterflake herb loaf is one of the best things I’ve baked in a while and it was fairly easy to do. It’s based on a Bake-Off winner from 1964.

For summer lunches I always crave a nice fresh salad, lately I’ve been making one with vine tomatoes, arugula, romaine lettuce, ricotta cheese and I’ve been using this Panera balsamic vinaigrette. I love it!

My favorite thing at Nobu is the miso cod and whenever I got to a nice Japanese restaurant, I always go for the miso chilean sea bass or cod. I’ve been trying to replicate that recipe for the longest time. Well the wait is over, I found this recipe and it is perfect! It’s worth going to the trouble of getting sake. I use the marinade with chilean sea bass, salmon and it comes out perfectly every-time.

I love a lychee martini and I really wanted to learn how to make one at home. Now that I have a good recipe and I wanted to share.

  • 1 oz lychee liquor
  • 1oz lychee juice or syrup from the can
  • Splash of vermouth
  • 1.5 oz of vodka or 2 if you like a stronger drink.

Add all to the shaker with ice, shake well and pour in glass and garnish with three lychees.

I got my little bar set from Amazon ages ago and I use it so much.

True and Co sent me a couple bralettes, I was interested because as much as I love getting dressed to work at home, I have no desire to wear a real bra. This one is my favorite, it’s perfect with a camisole and most of all, it’s so soft and you barely feel it on. It also look great by itself with joggers if you are just hanging out at home. I even fell asleep while wearing it and if that doesn’t speak to the comfort of bra, I don’t know what does.

I left my fiddle fig tree on the balcony too long and it looked so sad and I was so scared all the leaves were going to fall off. I read that they actually don’t like warm weather so I brought it back inside, I put it outside in the first place because my AC is always on lately, this change is over 12 hours. Amazing right? So far it’s doing good.

bodysuit // joggers // sneakers // necklace // earrings

I had to be up early on Saturday to help my sister with her work, I needed to be comfortable as I would be doing a lot of running around, so I went for my comfiest sneakers and joggers.

skirt // sandals

She took me to dinner after to thank me, I was tired and lazy so I just switch the joggers for a skirt and sneakers for sandal.

I’ve been doing my manicures throughout this quarantine so when Madam Glam sent me their set, I was hesitant about it at first because I know a lot of brands fail to get gel just right. I tried it and I’ve had it on for a full week and only had one small chip, mostly my fault because I’ve been rough on my nails.

I have this mini UV lamp and that’s all you really need. I also got this bundle of the base, top coat and remover. I am wearing this color above. If you are interested in taking your manis to the next level, I have a code for you, ‘Rachelle30’ for 30% off.

Have a great week and thank you so much for stopping by. If you enjoy this blog, I would really love it if you could leave me a testimonial HERE.

Work From Home Style

Monday: top // pants // sandals

Hey guys! I was back to thinking if I should keep blogging, but I realized that I just have to adjust as my life changes. I spend a lot more time at home and I also work from home so I don’t have work outfits or going outfits to share.

I set up a new routine because I was feeling down the past few weeks. I started working out in the morning before work, to give my day a better structure. After my workout, I shower, do my skincare routine and dress for the day. That’s a simple change but it really gives me a sense of normalcy. I cannot promise 3 posts weekly but I’ll keep blogging for now. I really need this outlet, specially nowadays.

Since I’m spending so much time at home, part of me wishes I had more loungewear and activewear but I really don’t want to spend my days wearing them. So I’m putting my entire closet on rotation to make sure I wear everything. Except for more formal or going out clothes that I have no business wearing at home. I will try my best to a similar item for my old clothing.

Tuesday: necklace // top //pants // sandals

Since I committed to dressing up everyday, I quickly realized there’s several pieces in my closet I have no plan on wearing again and I know I would not purchase if I was shopping right now. I also really want a smaller closet made of pieces I really enjoy wearing. So I’ve purged over 50 pieces, which is insane considering how much clothes I have left. I love following A Small Wardrobe and she’s a great example of great style with a small closet.

Wednesday: tee // skirt // sandals
Thursday: shirt // jeans // sandals
Friday: necklace // tee // skirt // sandals

Weekend Style

This time, I also included some weekend looks I wore recently.

Saturday: necklace // tee // shorts // sandals
Saturday: necklace // tunic // leggings // sandals

Have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by. If you enjoy this blog, I would really love it if you could leave me a testimonial HERE.
