My Recent Beauty Empties

These posts are my favorites, I love when other people do them as well. I finished every single one of them before writing this review. So it’s always interesting to look back and really consider if it’s something I will actually repurchase. Know that because I’m not repurchasing something doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. Sometimes I just want to try something new and or stop using a kind of product altogether.

Indie Lee Lotion COQ-10 Toner: I love this toner and have repurchased it several times. I decided to stop using a toner altogether, hence why I am not repurchasing it this time. The reason behind this decision, is that a toner is a nice to have but not really a necessary step. I’ve been going sans toner for a week now and haven’t noticed any changes in my skin. If I decide to go back, I will let you guys know.

Jordan Samuel The Matinee Gel Cleanser: I wanted a mild cleanser with a good PH and this is a winner. I love it and I already repurchased it. This is the first product by Jordan Samuel I’ve used and so far I’m impressed.

Skinceutical Retinol 1.0: I had great success with this retinol and I highly recommend it. It’s under $100, I did not repurchase it because I wanted to test out this one by Skinmedica.

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 PIGM 400: I love P50 and I tried the PIGM 400 variation that targets hyperpigmentation but I decided to go back to the original formula.

Beauty Counter Countersun: Oh my God this was awful and I hated it, I was so glad when it was over. The formula is not smooth and there’s a layer of oil in it that separates from the cream. Gladly went back to Supergoop.

Farmacy Honey Butter Beeswax Lip Balm: I got this during the last Sephora sale and I loved it. This is the lip balm I keep at my desk to reapply throughout the day, I already repurchased it.

Bioderma Atoderm Shower Oil: This is an amazing and affordable cleansing oil, it replaced L’Occitane shower oil for me. The bottle is a lot bigger and I already repurchased 3 more bottles during a sale.

Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask: This has transformed my lips and I think I will be devastated if it was ever discontinued. I apply it morning and night and my lips has never been more moisturized and soft. I tried Laneige and this is so much better.

Wearing

Outfit HERE

Happy Monday! As you can see I’ve been making an effort to get out of my pajamas and workout clothes and it’s been nice. The dress above is not linked because it is from Silk Laundry, they just released a new collection and I love this shirt.

Outfit HERE

I shared the story of that dress, it is both old and new. I had a Zoom baby shower so I decided to dress up a bit.

I noticed lavender seems to be in right now, I always loved that color and got this top a few years ago. It’s still a favorite.

Cooking

I had a craving for beef bulgogi, I found this recipe and it came out perfect. Had it over white rice and broccoli on the side for a perfect dinner. So much flavor and so easy to make.

Also made my first country loaf, I got this book, the recipe sounded so simplistic but it came out amazing. I recommend really taking the time to read the book before trying anything.

Chef Roze Traore was featured on NYT cooking and I had to try his compound butter, it is delicious.

Watching

I loved Normal People on Hulu and someone recommended Love Life on HBO Max, it is not at all like Normal People but it was such a great romcom. I binged it in two days. I also started watching The Good Wife, it’s an oldie but so far I’m loving it.

I am currently reading Homegoing, it’s an intense one so I’m not rushing through it. It’s one of those books that goes through several generations if a family.

Happy Friday! Hope you are all excited about the long weekend, it’s really nice to be off today. I’ll be relaxing and doing as little as possible. On a Target trip yesterday, I saw the dress above and it’s sooo cute. I’m trying to raise the cost per wear of my own clothes, so I’m trying to only get essentials.

This is another dress that tempted me, I love pretty white dresses for Summer.

This past week I really focused on sharing pretty and light dresses, since the temps are rising.

4 Black-Owned Businesses To Shop

Hey guys! I can’t believe it’s July but here we are. I’m off today so I’m excited for a mid week break. I have so many Black Owned business to share but I don’t want these posts to be overwhelming. Today, I’m only sharing for so that you can be mindful in your shopping.

ESTELLE COLORED GLASSES: This brand is enchanting and I’ve been obsessed since finding out about them. I got this mixed set, 2 blush, 2 lavender and 2 mint green. I cannot wait for my order to be here. They also have cake stands, make sure to follow them on instagram to see their gorgeous content.

GOODEE: is more of a marketplace co founded by twin brothers Byron & Dexter Peart, with all sorts of unique goodies. They have clothes, body products, furniture, home decor and so on. I am obsessed with this basket.

SAINT-FORT: I wish I had fancy places to go so I could justify this hat. The founder is off Haitian decent, the name gave that away for me but I confirmed with her. Isn’t she so talented? This past weekend Amanda Seal was wearing one of her hats at the BET Awards.

UNOETH: I love classic leather bags and I found out about this brand because of Insecure. They are homemade by artisans in Ethiopia and it’s a father-daughter business, so sweet.

Hope you will show these brands some love and make sure to spread the word. I will be sharing some fun slides about them on Instagram, so make sure to show your friends.

Weekly Update, 6.29.2020

Wearing

Hey guys! I’m looking forward to this week because I’m only working 3 days. I’ve been making an effort to get dressed daily because it’s looking like 2020 will be a year spent mostly indoors. It’s really depressing to be in workout clothes or pajamas all day and getting dressed has been a mood booster for sure. I love this tank and got it in two colors, it took me forever to narrow it down and had to practice great restraint to not get more. Trust me, it’s a very cute Summer piece.

This was a work from home look, I got these The Row pants on TheRealReal, for like $42 and that’s exactly what they are worth. The Row pants usually run for $500+ and the fabric blend is viscose and acetate, not linen, silk or wool so I don’t understand why it’s so expensive. Now when shopping I always try to check the fabric because anything that’s polyester I can easily get it for cheap at Target, Zara or H&M.

Guys I found the perfect baby tee and it’s only $5, I’m wearing a small and it’s perfect. I ordered it in all colors and 2 white. It looks perfect under my slip dresses or would be great under overalls. I’ve been wearing it non stop since I got it.

Buying

I got these gold birks because I’ve been living in my two pairs and I’m already obsessed with them. I seem to be really into chunky sandals right now.

Elijah

I’m sure you’ve heard of Elijah’s story by now, if you haven’t you can read about it here or here. You can sign the petition to get justice for him HERE. Please check out this list of resources, if you can to donate or contact officials. Sometimes I feel very overwhelmed with everything happening right now and I’m just trying to find one way to help weekly or every other week.

Eating

I’ve been working on decluttering my fridge, when the pandemic started, I had to buy so much more to avoid the grocery stores and I was worried about things spoiling. So for the past two weeks, I didn’t grocery shop and just used up what I have, by the way I still have a lot left. I did go back this weekend for fresh veggies. The only new thing I baked were these chocolate chip cookies, I already had all the ingredients I needed.

Reading

the vanishing half by brit bennett review

I don’t have any shows or movies to share because I’ve been reading some great books, The Vanishing Half may be my favorite book so far this year.
