I’m a huge fan of SJP’s new show Divorce, the second season ended recently and I cannot wait for the third. Her character’s name is Frances and her style is so different from Carrie’s. Less fashion victim, more ladylike, mature, yet still fun. Don’t get me wrong Carrie is still my girl. From the first season I noticed how lovely her outfits were, but by the second season I knew I had to look into it more. I spent every episode dying to know what she was wearing, since in the show it was Winter, I waited to put this post together.
Once I started focusing solely on the outfits, I was able to narrow her style. Frances is a working mom that cares about fashion but it doesn’t consume her. She has a penchant for elegant vintage-like pieces. So I imagine she knows NYC’s best vintage shops or even browse TheRealReal before bed on her iPad if she’s not reading a book. Comfort and function are a must since she lives in the city and doesn’t shy away from a pair pretty heels.
She loves long coats and trenches, preferably in neutral colors or a soft print. She’s not afraid of bold colors.

She loves a pretty silk blouse and midi skirts, when it’s really cold she has an assortment of opaque tights to keep her warm.
If she’s wearing pants, she goes for straight trousers. She also love nice basics like a white button down and a classic cable sweater.

She has fun with pretty printed vintage dresses, she clearly gets them altered to fit her petite frame perfectly.
Frances is also not fussy so for Fall/Winter she uses a jansport backpack as her everyday bag.

Even if you don’t watch Divorce, I hope you still enjoyed the genius of Arjun Bhasin, the costume designer for the show. Check out this and that article to read more about Frances’s style.
I haven’t watched this show yet but I can’t say I’m surprised that SJP incorporates some fabulous fashion one way or another! Fun breakdown of her style!
SJP’s style is so iconic- I need to watch this show!

Hi Rach,
I enjoy your blog and also live in Florida. You have previously talked about selling your wardrobe items. Do you have any advice or tips on the best way to do this now that so many of us are clearing our closets and transitioning to fall? Would love to hear your thoughts…..
Hi Gina, I always use eBay to sale my gently worn items. I made a post about that here https://pinksole.com/2014/11/tips-for-selling-on-ebay/. I also give away to friends and donate. For designer items I use TheRealReal consignment services, they are awesome.
I need to check out this show. SJP is such an icon. Thanks for sharing dear!
