Happy Friday! Remember this survey I did back in 2017, well it’s still open if you want to anonymously leave your input. I remember you guys requesting posts showing multiple ways to style one item, so this is my first of the year and there will be more to come I promise.
So maybe back in 2012-2013 I had a few chino shorts, back then I was wearing a size 0 or 2 at J.Crew and of course they don’t fit me anymore. I let them all go during one of my closet cleanings. The sizing has been off after that but after reading the reviews of this year’s version I was pleasantly surprised. The 4 fits me great, it is a little loose at the waist but I don’t want to size down and have the legs be too tight. I’m patiently waiting for the 3 inch inseam to come back in stock. I choose Chino shorts because in South Florida even denim shorts can be unbearable mid Summer. These shorts are usually lighter and a lot more warm weather friendly. I am making sure to pair them with great basics that you probably already have in your closet. The point of these posts is to encourage you to wear what you already have.
You can make them more classy by pairing them with a button down and wedges. This is a great look for any daytime activities, you can also switch the shirt for a cute cami and heels for a night out look.
I love these J.Crew boatneck tees and I’ve had mine for years, thankfully they are still in stock. This look is perfect for running errands and daytime activities. Make it cool and less soccer mom by pairing it with a cute little bag. (no offense to all the soccer moms, you guys are amazing!)
Lastly, pair them with your favorite tee, mine is always a white tee or a graphic one with a chambray shirt layered over. A plaid shirt would work great as well. This white tee is older (in blog years), I rediscovered it when cleaning my t-shirt drawer because it was overflowing. I got rid of tons and was so happy to have found this one buried at the bottom. Thankfully Express still makes it and is under $20.
I included a few more shorts options below, in a variety of sizes including plus sizes. I know J.Crew shorts doesn’t work for everyone. Also I found that Reformation carries the dress I wore in Monday’s post in extended sizes.
If you have any suggestions on what to style 3 ways next, please let me know.
