I’m on week 5 of the Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines, and so far so good. I am seeing better results this time around because I am doing both my HiiT and LISS workouts in between resistance training. Another crucial point in doing this, is making sure you are working at the correct heart rate level, Kayla did a post on her blog where she explained the heart rate zone perfectly. This is very important when doing your LISS workouts.

My abs are usually present in the morning before I had anything to eat, but lately they’ve been making appearances in the afternoon as well, so I’m happy with that. I think this has to do with my diet, I am not counting calories but I’m being mindful of my macros. My goal is 45% carbs, 30 % protein and 25% fat, this article helped me a lot in understand all this shenanigans. According to this article I should be eating a lot more, but I’m comfortable consuming around 1400 calories daily, now when I’m ready to put on more muscles I will probably have to increase that. For now I mostly just want to look more slender, hence why I’m staying away from food really high in fat but I do make sure to have good fats think salmon/avocado and such. I am not super strict about all of this but I do use MyFitnessPal to track the nutrition values in what I eat, I’ve been using that app a lot. I also log my workouts in MapMyFitness and have both apps linked. A burrito bowl at Chipotle can easily be 1000 calories, so I’ve been learning to customize my orders a lot more.

I don’t post about all of this in my regular Instagram account but I do share a lot more on my account @_fitrach, there’s women all over the world doing BBG, some of my fave are @KDInspiredLife @BlacniksandBurpees @Katreeeeena @GetFitBrooklyn.

I’m always looking for food companies that make quality products, I can’t possibly try them all because it adds up quickly, but I’ve tried Nuts N More and Flavor God and I’m pretty happy with them. I love all spreads and they tend to be high in calories, but Nuts N More are also packed with protein and no added sugar, it is not sickeningly sweet like a lot of chocolate spreads. They have some amazing flavors but for now I’ve only tried the white chocolate protein peanut butter.

I also tried Flavor God pizza seasoning, pardon my french but I put that shit on EVERYTHING it is amazing and is packed with natural ingredients. It is paleo, vegan and gluten free.

Despite everything I refuse to give up on eating my favorite things, I still enjoy a nice cocktails every weekend but just one or sometimes two ;). I had a couple Amazon gift-cards so I treated myself to this Cuisinart Waffle Maker, to make my own healthy/protein packed waffles. My very first try was a hit! WAFFLE RECIPE:: 2 cups of rolled oats. 1 cup of water. 1 cup of unsweetened almond coconut milk. 1 tbsp brown sugar. 1 tsp vanilla. 1/4 tsp salt. 1 banana. Blend everything until it’s smooth and VOILA!

I topped mine with this homemade chocolate sauce: 1 banana, 1/4 cup of milk and 1.5 tbsp of cocoa powder. Blend together until runny. Big thanks to @afruitylife for this recipe.

I also tried making salmon cakes after seeing so many girl on IG making them. Let me tell you I don’t know why I waited so long to make this, it was delicious. I didn’t really follow any recipe I just winged it. I use a can of Wild Caught Alaskan Pink Salmon (got it at Whole Foods) and Trader Joe’s: garlic salt seasoning, Himalayan pink salt crystals, everyday seasoning and red pepper flakes. I added 2 eggs and about 1/4 cup of whole wheat bread crumbs so that it could hold its shape. After mixing everything, with my hands I give them this burger-like shape and saute them in some coconut oil, I keep the heat low-medium and cook each side for 4-5 minutes.

Because I’m sweaty and look like a mess doesn’t mean my clothes shouldn’t be cute, here are a few favorites. I’ve raved about GapFit before so I won’t repeat myself. The Nike Flyknit Roshe sneakers are so cute, I almost don’t want to work out with in them and I want all the colors.

The seamless bras by Nike are amazing, they are more like a crop top so way less revealing if you decide to skip the tee. I also love these 2 colors nike bras, just like the seamless they are have removable padding and are so darn cute. I kinda want them in every color. The Nike training shorts are the bomb and I’m loving all the different prints available right now. Ok you may think I’m weird but I’m really particular about my socks, I’ve tried a few and I am in love with the Nike Dri Fit no show socks, they come in a rainbow of colors, when I remember I totally try to match them to my outfit.
