Casual Stripes

So this month, “I’ve been shopping, I’ve been shopping” (in my Beyoncé voice). I always thought my closet cleaning would be a one time thing, but having this blog to document my outfits really made me realize what I enjoy wearing. The truth is many pieces in my closet, while in great condition are just not getting any love, maybe my style is changing, or I’m just getting old. Honestly I think that I’m just getting better at defining my style, so I’m not really sad at letting anything go. I find many pieces were too loud, short or I just don’t like them anymore. I’m pretty happy with my shoes and bags although I did a spring cleaning there as well. Many of them need to be fixed or resoled, but I’ve not had the time to do that yet. For example, after my clean out I was left with very few going out clothes, many skirts had to go because they were either too tight or too short. I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted to get, I just needed to find them. I had a little bit of extra cash thanks to my annual bonus and eBay so I did some damage, I am still waiting on some pieces so they will be mentioned in the next update. I also purged 22 items this month, I sold the majority of my portofino shirts, mostly all the really bold colors. I kept just a few and started slowly replacing them, they are my go-to shirts for work (my new colors are haze, sterling silver, soft ivory, and shadow stripe).  I was considering getting these, but I settled for the Vince Camuto pair that I received yesterday. Right now the Manolos are not a priority, I would actually much prefer spending more on nice flats for work like the Ferragamo varina in red.

PS: I forgot to mention this in the last wardrobe tracking update, but that was a wrap for fall/winter 2014-2015. This month I get to start fresh with Spring/Summer 2015, and clearly I started with a BANG! This season I will try to give you guys a more detailed review on the items I got.

Progress

J.Crew Geo print mini skirt :: I’m 5’4 so a lot of J.Crew’s mini skirts are just regular on me, well not this one. It is not suitable for work, I can easily dress it up with heels and a barcelona cami for a night out or a t-shirt and sandals for a more casual look. The print is really cute, I fit in the size 4.

Express minus the leather jacket :: After seeing this on so many of my favorite bloggers, I took the plunge and got one while there were on sale. You’ve seen me wear it here and here so you know I love it. (I got it in small)

J.Crew stripe tee :: This tee is the bomb.com, I may be biased because I have a slight obsession with stripe tees. Jess agrees with me, I may or may not have it in both colors. J.Crew tees always run big for me, so I got the xs and it’s still pretty roomy.

J.Crew pull-on shorts :: These are the shorts version of the Barcelona cami, I kid you not. I first got a pair, thankfully they went on sale in my store at $39 with an extra 40% off. J.Crew’s sale are always better in stores so I got a few more. I fit in the 4.

J.Crew stripe dress :: I feel like everyone should own a stripe dress, I wasn’t crazy with mine so I wanted a new one.  This one is a thicker material and I love the zip detail, it is a bit fitted mostly around the hips for me. I got it in small, and I can totally rock this at work for casual Friday.

J.Crew floral pull-on shorts :: After getting last year embroidered short (wearing them here), I knew these would be gone quickly. Thankfully these are made with a studier linen material that is perfectly lined. Just like I predicted they run big, so I fit in a 2. Don’t ask me how I knew that lol?

Gap black distressed jeans :: If you are into distressed high wait jeans, two words = Get Them! Seriously Gap needs to make more jeans in that particular material, it fits like a dream.

Express stripe tunic :: I wanted to try the Express One Eleven collection, and that was the only thing I kept. It is super soft and has a relax fit as you can see here. (size = xs)

Loft black romper :: I’m so excited to wear this soon to a dinner party, it is soft with a relaxed fit. I got it in a 4. The size 2 was a little too tight around my hips.

J.Crew drapey skirt :: I was on the fence with this one, but it is totally work appropriate for me. You can’t beat the comfort of the drawstring waist.

F21 drapey Kimono :: Complete impulse buy, but when I received it I did not want to return it. It will be perfect as a cover up as well. The small is nice and loose on me.

Illesteva Leonard silver mirrored sunglasses :: I did not need another pair of sunglasses, but I looooove those. I know they are not for everyone or classic but they are totally me.

Prada gradient aviators :: I first spotted these at Shopbop for $325, but see my limit on sunglasses is about $150-$170. So I moved on, but then thanks to Jessica I started checking Amazon for deals. These babies were listed at $170 and I was sold. What I love the most about them is the gradient lenses.

Louise & Cie Pumps :: Louise & Cie is part of Vince Camuto, and after Caryl‘s review I caved because I just love the color and I don’t have something similar. They do run big, I usually wear a 7.5 but the 7 fits me perfectly.

Stuart Weitzman Nouveau Pumps :: Another Amazon score, the Stuart Weitzman Nouveau pumps are currently full price most places and I got this suede grey pair at $129. Fits true to size! They are gorgeous on and the quality is great. I’ll keep checking Amazon to score more colors.

Rebecca Minkoff soft blue crossbody :: I have to say Rebecca Minkoff is growing on me, I was never big on the MAC. But her latest purses are beautiful, I picked this light blue one for Spring during the Shopbop sale and I kinda want this one as well.

Vince Camuto Norida Nude Patent Pumps :: I got these yesterday actually, in 7.5. They fit great and I’m happy with them, I walked around my place in them with no issues.

You guys know I always keep it real here, well part of my collab with Shopbop I get a credit to shop with. Well I used them during the sale to get 2 items I really wanted.

Alice + Olivia flare white skirt :: I loooooooove Alice + Olivia, specially their full mini skirts and dresses (seriously how cute is this, this, and this). When I saw that pristine mini white skirt, I knew it had my name all over it. I got it in a size 4 that fits like a glove.

Jack Purcell for Converse white leather sneakers :: I knew I wanted white sneakers, but I really don’t like the canvas one. Well one from the Jack Purcell‘s for Converse collection is leather. Now the size is tricky, I’m a 7.5 and got that. One foot is a little loose while the other fits perfectly so I did not return it. I just make sure to keep my lace tight and I’ve not had any issues.
