Trends come and go, some last longer than others, but what about those core pieces that are timeless and will never go out of style? Do you know which ones they are? Do you have them in your closet? (Go look!!!). Like any true fashionista, I like to keep up with the latest trends but two things I’ve learned: 1) Just because something is trendy, it’s doesn’t mean it’s appropriate for you: body-type, age group etc and 2) Who has a fortune to spend on trendy items that are barely going to last one season? I don’t know about you, but I don’t. Therefore there are some core items that every woman should have as part of their wardrobe. Think of those items as an investment; so go ahead and splurge a little because you can rock them now and forever. I’ve illustrated below what those items are: 1-A basic well fitted white shirt 2-A tailored blazer/jacket. It can be white, black, or navy; as long as it is a neutral tone, it will work. They key though is that it needs to be well fitted. 3-A black pencil skirt (can be worn day or night and is very versatile) 4-A pair of black dressy trousers 5-A simple LBD (OMG!!!! It’s Little Black Dress) or it can be a white one as well. Since I live in the sunshine state and can pretty much wear white anytime, I’d go for a white one. 6-A pair of “comfortable” black pumps 7-An elegant neutral tone classic handbag, and don’t consider a walking advertising handbag. If you’re really going to splurge and purchase a designer purse, go for a “monogram free” one like the Epi Leather Louis Vuitton. 8-A good stainless steel water resistant watch. Now don’t go buy a Rolex and be broke afterward. A good wrist watch will cost about $200-900 A Tag Heuer is a good choice (oh by the way, shop around) 9-A pair of classic shades. Do you know how long the aviators’ sunglasses have been around? For as long as I can remember! It’s ok if you do not like the aviator style; just pick out a classic pair of shades.
When it comes to those items, you should definitely break the bank and spend those extra couple of hundreds because they are everlasting and will always be in style. They’ve always been fashionable and will always be.
